MAKE A SNUG

The nights are starting to close in and the temperatures starting to drop, if you’re anything like me then the desire to hibernate is starting to kick in. Having a cosy space to retreat to during our darkest months is a nice thought, and totally possible no matter what size ‘spare’ space you have.

Always consider the weight of the colours you use against the levels of natural light. If you want to convert a smaller space that’s prone to darkness, using a medium weight warm colour such as this grey from @crownpaintsuk Art Deco paint range is strong enough to make the space feel cosy, not overpowered, and provides a great backdrop for favourite pieces of artwork or textiles for the walls.

Layer your snug scheme up further with furnishings and throws, and anything else that makes you feel at home for winter.

BATHROOMS – Pattern Scale and Proportion

Playing with scale and proportion through pattern is a great way to create a higher impact bathroom. It’s a simple way to elevate your scheme and to let your personal style show through. The eye can be drawn to certain features, and your bathroom space appear larger than it is.

Balancing a mix of scale and patterns with negative space is important for keeping the sensation of ‘busy’ in check. This was achieved in this 1920s bathroom with the soft off-white from @crownpaintsuk Art Deco paint range on the walls and ceilings. The small scale of the Art Deco inspired floor tiles is offset by the slightly larger herringbone tiles, both by @wallsandfloors, to create visual balance.
