Traditional and timeless

Comfortable seating and a decorating scheme to visually balance the green of indoor plants and the garden outside was required.

Paint palette, tiles and furniture

The gorgeous Red Earth by Farrow and Ball is the perfect contrast against the green of the many plants (inside and out), and the Chinese table lamps. The terracotta floor tiles are by Fired Earth, and the botanically patterned, chaise lounge was sourced locally. Very warming in winter, yet earthy and soft in summer.

The ceiling surrounding the skylights was also painted in Red Earth to maximise the feeling of warmth and space.

The combination of colours that make up this shade: support the enjoyment of gardening and socialising that takes place in here, as well as balance the green of the many plants. The feeling evoked is one of warmth and comfort.
