Colour Pop Home Office

‘Canary’ yellow by Earthborn Paints was applied to the thin chimney breast above the fireplace in the home office to act as a feature backdrop to the abstract print, providing the space with the desired contemporary feel and freeing up the rest of the room for concentration on work, and quiet contemplation of the garden outside.

Colour Blocking

A love for strong blocks of colour were expressed in the brief. Here in this home office it was possible to provide one of the strongest due to the presence of the existing black iron fireplace. The shade of ‘Canary’ is from the same colour group as black which ensures colour harmony and therefore security in executing this colour combination.

Note that all of the strong colour is restricted to one small area, allowing it to act as an attractive feature point, preventing it from overpowering the room. This is also assisted by the presence of plenty of white.
